Explore the art of turning everyday objects into striking sculptures in this beginner-friendly assemblage workshop inspired by Louise Nevelson. Known for transforming discarded materials into dramatic works of art, Nevelson showed that ordinary objects can become extraordinary when arranged with creativity and intention.

In this class, participants will use found objects such as small wood pieces, cardboard shapes, buttons, and other interesting materials to build their own sculptural compositions. We’ll experiment with arranging objects in layers and groupings to create depth, texture, and visual rhythm. Once your composition is assembled, we’ll use paint to unify the piece and give it a bold, finished look.

Along the way, you’ll learn basic assemblage techniques including composition, layering objects, attaching materials securely, and using paint to tie different elements together. The goal is to explore creativity and discover how simple materials can become expressive works of art.
